The cornea is the eye's outermost layer.  It is the clear, dome-shaped surface that covers the front of the eye and has a critical role in clear vision.

The Cornea and Refractive Surgery Service at Advanced Eye Hospital and Institute (AEHI) at Sanpada near Vashi station, has cornea specialists who are skilled in the advanced medical and surgical care of patients with corneal, external eye disease and anterior segment eye disorders.

Modern innovations in cornea transplantation like lamellar surgeries (DALK and DSEK) are regularly performed by our specialists.  Advanced Keratoconus treatments like Corneal Collagen Cross linking, INTACS, Phakic Lenses and RoseK Lenses are offered based on the patients’ individual features and stage of the disease.  Advanced ocular surface disorders can now be treated with Amniotic Membrane Transplantation and Limbal Stem Cell Transplantation.

We are also involved in the latest refractive surgery procedures to treat nearsightedness, astigmatism and farsightedness. Laser Eye Surgery (Refractive Surgery) allows correction of certain vision problems such as myopia (nearsightedness), hyperopia (farsightedness) and astigmatism. These procedures use a laser beam to help reshape the cornea.  We have the most advanced techniques and technology available today and offer patients a new alternative to conventional LASIK eye surgery- Femtosecond Lenticule Extraction (FLEx), an evolution of laser refractive surgery.
