Lasik, What’s That?

Laser Eye Surgery is a short, painless procedure that reshapes the cornea and reduces or eliminates the need for glasses and contact lenses to correct near sightedness, farsightedness and astigmatism. The most common methods today use Excimer laser to reshape the curvature of the cornea. Newer advances like Femto Laser and Smile Procedure have enhanced the safety and surety of laser vision correction.

Lasik Centre at Advanced Eye Hospital is the Only Centre in Western India to have three Lasik Technologies under one roof!

 Mel 80 Excimer Lasik

1. Conventional Lasik:

A thin corneal flap is created using the Mel 80 Excimer Laser after which, the flap is lifted to expose the inner cornea on which laser ablation is performed for reshaping the cornea.

Femto Lasik2. Femto Lasik:

Advanced Eye offers patients a more advanced and safer alternative to conventional LASIK - Refractive Lenticule Extraction (ReLEx), an evolution of laser eye surgery. The entire treatment is performed with just one laser. The laser cuts a disc shaped tissue which is removed either through a flap (FLEx) or through a tiny hole (SMILE)

This new technology makes Lasik faster, more precise and gentler on the eye. Relex SMILE Lasik ensures that you are left with a stronger eye, less discomfort, dryness and tearing as compared to LASIK.

Lasik Xtra

3. Lasik Xtra:

Lasik involves ablation of a thin layer of cornea and thus may not be suitable for people with thin corneas. Lasik Xtra harnesses the power of UV radiation combined with Vitamin B2 to strengthen your cornea during Lasik as a preventive measure against this side effect   of conventional Lasik – ectasia and thus gives those with thinner corneas a chance of clear vision too.

How can I know if Lasik is safe for my eyes?

No Lasik is performed at Advanced Eye Hospital without a comprehensive work up to ensure that you are a right candidate for Lasik. The Lasik work up entails:

1.      Corneal Topography: To study the Surface Map of the Cornea

2.      Cornea Pachymetry and Anterior Segment OCT : To Assess the Thickness of Cornea

3.      Orthoptic check-up: For an Eye Muscle Balance Check-up

4.      IOL Master to assess disparity in length between the two eyes if any

5.      Detailed Refraction

6.      Evaluation of Intra-Ocular Pressure

7.     Fundoscopy: For Retina Evaluation
